Testing procedure

In each of six different countries (England, Germany, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain) between 2 to 4 classes of grade 11 were selected from schools with a normal or good reputation. In two countries 4 groups either from selected schools or from university were included. The results from these special groups are treated separately.

The time for the paper-and-pencil test was not restricted. It took the students between 20 and 40 minutes to finish both parts.
