The results in detail for selected classes

Some groups did not come from normal but selected schools or involved second year university students. The results from these groups were determined separately.

These results differ in two aspects from the normal groups.

1. The average is higher. This is normal since these groups are selected ones

2. For three groups the average for assignment 2 is higher than for assignment 1. This is an interesting result where I do not have an obvious explanation.

A further interesting results shows up if the frequency of students is plotted over the number of correct items for assignment 1 and 2 (see next figure).

This population of 103 students can be roughly divided in two groups, one with a rather high average and a second group, which is practically on the same level as our normal population. Only about 1/3 of the selected groups (about 10 percent of the total population) achieve satisfying results.
